Ministry of Industry "Accepting Online Applications Until July"
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Energy Information Culture Foundation announced on the 8th that they will hold the 'National Energy Transition Best Practices Contest' to discover and share successful cases.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is hosting the contest to share the process of implementing energy transition policies such as expanding renewable energy, demand management, and energy efficiency, which were confirmed in the 3rd Basic Energy Plan, in the field, targeting local governments, companies, and civic groups.
This year's contest formalizes the results of the 'Energy Transition Best Practices Pilot Selection' conducted last year. The pilot project last year selected 30 cases out of 106 energy transition cases submitted by local governments and public institutions through a demand survey.
Subsequently, a booklet titled "A Sustainable Energy World We Create" was published and shared through card news, e-books, and blogs (Energy Information Plaza).
The Ministry expects more diverse cases to be submitted as the selection of energy transition best practices has been changed to a contest format, expanding participation to companies, schools, and civic groups.
Applications will be accepted online only (Energy Information Communication Center) until July. After two rounds of evaluation, 12 excellent cases will be selected. A total prize of 14 million KRW and certificates (Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award, Korea Energy Information Culture Foundation Chairman Award) will be awarded.
The evaluation and awards will be conducted separately for four participant categories: companies (general companies such as energy and manufacturing), local governments (metropolitan and basic), public institutions and schools, and civic groups (including cooperatives).
This is to actively discover not only large-scale successful cases of private companies and local governments but also small and medium-sized business models of schools and civic groups that are feasible and scalable.
The 12 best cases discovered through this contest will be published as a booklet with additional on-site coverage and interviews with the persons in charge. They will also be reproduced and promoted in various forms using online media such as videos, card news, and blogs.
