[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 8th that it will sell paper Onnuri gift certificates at a discount and raise the purchase limit to stimulate consumption.
In this special sale of Onnuri gift certificates, paper Onnuri gift certificates will be sold at a 10% discount with a limit of 500 billion KRW starting from the 20th of this month. Additionally, until June 30, the monthly discount purchase limit will be raised from 500,000 KRW to 1,000,000 KRW.
Paper Onnuri gift certificates can be purchased at 15 banks. To receive the discount benefit, buyers must bring an ID and pay in cash. Furthermore, the benefits of mobile Onnuri gift certificates, which allow purchase, payment, and gifting via smartphone applications without visiting a bank, will also be expanded.
The mobile Onnuri gift certificates will maintain a 10% discount until the end of this year, and the monthly discount purchase limit will be raised from 700,000 KRW to 1,000,000 KRW until June 30. The discount purchase limit for mobile gift certificates is operated separately from the paper gift certificate limit.
Mobile Onnuri gift certificates can be purchased through nine banks and simple payment apps, including NongHyup (All One Bank) and CheckPay. Discounts are automatically applied up to the monthly discount purchase limit.
Seven traditional market online shopping malls, including Onnuri Paldo Market, will also hold special discount events on local specialties until June 30. Online special discount event products can be checked at the integrated traditional market shopping mall Onnuri Market and individual traditional market online shopping malls.
Kwon Daesu, Director of Small Business Policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, said, "We hope this special sale of Onnuri gift certificates will serve as an opportunity to revitalize consumption in local commercial districts," and added, "Since the 10% special sale limit for paper Onnuri gift certificates is 500 billion KRW, we recommend purchasing quickly."
