Award Ceremony for the Yangcheon-gu Youth Award

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) is accepting nominations for candidates to receive the 22nd Yangcheon-gu Youth Award until the 21st.

The district awards the "Youth Award" to young people who serve as role models in various fields. Last year, a total of 79 recipients were selected from candidates recommended by school principals and neighborhood chiefs, after a review by a panel of experts in child and youth fields.

This year, up to 100 youths will be selected and awarded in five categories: literature and arts, sports, filial piety, resilient living, and volunteer work.

Eligibility requires candidates to be between 9 and 20 years old as of the application date (April 6, 2020), have lived in Yangcheon-gu for at least one year, and meet the selection criteria for each category.

Those wishing to recommend candidates should refer to the announcements on the Yangcheon-gu Office website, complete the relevant documents, and submit recommendations signed by the school principal, the neighborhood chief of the candidate’s address, or at least 20 local residents.

In particular, representatives of volunteer organizations within the community can also recommend candidates for the volunteer category.

Applications can be submitted by visiting the Women and Family Division (5th floor, Haenuri Town, 81 Mokdongdong-ro, Yangcheon-gu) by the 21st or by registered mail (postmarked by April 21). The candidates will be reviewed by the Yangcheon-gu Youth Award judging committee composed of experts in each field, and the final winners will be announced at an awards ceremony scheduled for May 27.

Kim Soo-young, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “In celebration of Youth Month in May, we aim to discover and honor youths who freely express their talents or serve as role models through healthy and exemplary lifestyles in each category. We encourage many recommendations of Yangcheon-gu’s proud young people.”
