Yongsan-gu Reports Man in His 20s for Violating Self-Quarantine Rules

Overseas Entrant (Resident of Dowon-dong) Mr. A Violates Self-Quarantine... Unauthorized Departure Confirmed by CCTV After Resident Report

Yongsan-gu Reports Man in His 20s for Violating Self-Quarantine Rules

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seong Jang-hyun) reported Mr. A (male in his 20s), confirmed to have violated COVID-19 self-quarantine rules, to the police on the 6th for violating the "Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act" (hereinafter referred to as the Infectious Disease Act).

The accused, Mr. A, is a resident of Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, but his actual residence is in Dowon-dong, Yongsan-gu. He arrived at Incheon Airport from the United Kingdom on the 26th of last month. The district notified Mr. A that he was subject to self-quarantine (March 26 to April 9) and has been checking compliance with self-quarantine at least twice a day.

The issue arose when the district received resident reports that Mr. A had left his residence without permission on April 2 and 3. When asked by officials about the facts, Mr. A responded, "I did not go out." However, investigation of nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) confirmed that Mr. A left his home twice.

Details such as places visited and contacts will be confirmed through police investigation.

As of the 7th, there are 18 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Yongsan-gu (15 under treatment, 3 recovered), and 888 people under self-quarantine (97 domestic, 791 overseas arrivals).

The district has been managing overseas arrivals since last month. On the day of arrival, COVID-19 testing and transportation (official vehicles) are provided. Additionally, 110 officials have been deployed to monitor compliance with self-quarantine through safety management apps and other means.

On the 30th of last month, a Polish confirmed case (#9277) in Hannam-dong who violated self-quarantine rules was reported to the police for violating the Infectious Disease Act.

Seong Jang-hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, "Recently, the number of overseas arrivals in the area has increased significantly," and added, "We will respond strongly with a zero-tolerance policy against those who violate self-quarantine to prevent the spread of COVID-19."
