Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, the EU's executive branch, tweeted on the 6th (local time), when news of Prime Minister Johnson was announced, "Wishing him a speedy and full recovery."
Charles Michel, President of the European Council, also wrote on Twitter, "Wishing him a swift recovery." David Sassoli, President of the European Parliament, said on Twitter, "We all wish him a speedy and full recovery."
Michel Barnier, the EU's chief Brexit negotiator who tested positive for COVID-19 last month, also tweeted, "Wishing Boris Johnson a speedy recovery."
After publicly announcing his COVID-19 infection on the 27th of last month and entering self-isolation, Prime Minister Johnson was admitted to St Thomas' Hospital in London on the night of the 5th as his symptoms did not improve for nearly ten days. On the afternoon of the 6th, his condition suddenly worsened, and he was transferred to the intensive care unit.
