Yangcheon-gu Provides 1 Million Won to Closed Academies and Private Institutes

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) will provide a "Temporary Closure Support Fund" to help academies and private institutes that actively participated in social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19 operate stably.

The support targets facilities among the 2,057 academies and private institutes registered and reported to the Gangseo Yangcheon Office of Education within Yangcheon-gu that have closed continuously for 14 days or more during the period from March 23 to April 23.

The support amount is 1 million KRW per closed facility. Representatives of academies or private institutes wishing to apply for the "Temporary Closure Support Fund" must prepare the necessary documents, including △Temporary Closure Certificate (issued by Gangseo Yangcheon Office of Education) △Application form for the Temporary Closure Support Fund △Copy of business registration certificate △Copy of representative’s ID and bankbook, and submit them by email (min2seoul@yangcheon.go.kr) or visit the reception desk (4th floor of Yangcheon-gu Lifelong Learning Center) in person by the 13th. (※ On Saturdays and Sundays, only email submissions are accepted.) However, Yangcheon-gu plans to conduct unannounced inspections of academies and private institutes that applied for the support fund, and any facility found to have operated even for one day will be excluded from the support.

Kim Soo-young, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “I would like to express my gratitude to the academies and private institutes that decided to close to prevent the spread of COVID-19 despite the economic hardships, and I hope they will continue to actively participate in the ‘social distancing’ campaign.”
