[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] The resumption of operations at Hyundai Motor's plant in Saint Petersburg, Russia, which was halted due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), has been delayed.
According to local media, Hyundai Motor stated in a press release on the 6th (local time) that "operations are currently suspended" and "future schedules will be announced later."
Hyundai Motor had initially announced that production would be suspended during the paid leave period from March 30 to April 3, following the Russian government's directive.
Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics also extended the shutdown period of their Russian plants due to the impact of COVID-19. On the 6th, both companies announced that they would further suspend operations at their local plants, which were scheduled to resume that day, in accordance with Russian government guidelines.
