[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Park Sun-mi] As the lockdown of Wuhan, Hubei Province, which had the most severe COVID-19 infection situation, is lifted on the 8th, no deaths from COVID-19 infections were reported in China on the 6th. This is the first time since the spread of COVID-19 that no new deaths have occurred.
On the 7th, the National Health Commission of China (NHC) announced that as of midnight, the number of new deaths from COVID-19 infections was zero. The number of new deaths in China had been decreasing continuously, with 4 on the 3rd, 3 on the 4th, 1 on the 5th, and 0 on the 6th.
Thirty-two new confirmed cases were reported. All were imported cases infected overseas and entered China. Twelve new suspected cases were also all reported as imported cases. The cumulative number of imported confirmed cases in China is 983, of which 285 have recovered, leaving 698 currently classified as imported cases under treatment.
So far, 81,740 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported in China. Excluding 3,331 deaths and 77,167 recovered and discharged patients, 1,242 patients are currently confirmed and undergoing treatment. There are currently 89 suspected cases and 14,499 close contacts under medical observation.
The Chinese government reported 30 new asymptomatic infections in one day, bringing the total to 1,033. Among these, 275 are imported cases. Asymptomatic infections refer to people who test positive for COVID-19 but do not show specific symptoms such as fever, cough, or sore throat.
Outside mainland China, in the Greater China region, a total of 1,331 cumulative confirmed cases have been reported: Hong Kong (914), Macau (44), and Taiwan (373).
