476 Billion Won for Overcoming COVID-19 Including Regional Economic Revitalization and Resident Life Vitality... 51.2% of Total Supplementary Budget
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) has prepared the first supplementary budget for 2020, totaling 92.8 billion KRW, on the 6th, containing urgent response measures related to COVID-19.
This budget focuses on overcoming COVID-19 by alleviating residents' anxiety caused by the spread of infectious diseases, with a scale of 47.6 billion KRW, accounting for 51.2% of the total supplementary budget.
First, to support the recovery of small business owners and SMEs and revitalize the local economy, a total of 43.4 billion KRW was allocated, including ▲support loans for small merchants (40 billion KRW) ▲creation of 500 short-term jobs for youth (1.7 billion KRW) ▲increase of youth internship support allowance by 200,000 KRW per month and extension of support period by 3 months (1 billion KRW).
Additionally, to invigorate residents' daily lives, a total of 3.3 billion KRW was allocated, including ▲Gangnam-type emergency welfare project for households in crisis (1 billion KRW) ▲reduction of social welfare facility usage fees (1.1 billion KRW) ▲expansion of "More Recharge" leisure culture curation service and non-face-to-face book lending service (330 million KRW).
Moreover, to strengthen the infectious disease response system capacity, a total of 900 million KRW was allocated, including ▲installation of thermal imaging cameras and disinfection (250 million KRW) ▲installation of automatic doors at 31 multi-use public facilities (200 million KRW) ▲strengthening COVID-19 response management (450 million KRW).
This supplementary budget will be finalized after approval at the 284th temporary session of the Seoul Special City Gangnam-gu Council, held from the 17th to the 23rd.
