[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The National Theater Company announced on the 6th that it will cancel the play "Faust Ending," which was scheduled to open in April.
"Faust Ending" was a new work commemorating the 70th anniversary of the National Theater Company and was set to premiere on the 3rd. However, the opening was postponed once to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
While continuing rehearsals aiming for an opening in April, on the 30th of last month, actress Kim Seong-nyeo (70), who played the role of "Faust," had an accident where she fell to the floor, and hospital examinations revealed a shoulder dislocation and fracture, recommending six weeks of rest.
Ms. Kim is currently able to move without issues and is recovering at home, but after extensive discussions with all staff and actors, the theater company decided to cancel the performance considering actress Kim Seong-nyeo's condition and the completeness of the production.
