[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Kumho Petrochemical announced that it has smoothly concluded the 2020 wage negotiations as the three labor unions entrusted the company with matters related to wage negotiations.
This delegation was made from a magnanimous perspective, with Kumho Petrochemical labor and management working together to overcome the difficulties faced by the entire industry due to the global disaster caused by the designation of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO).
As a result, Kumho Petrochemical has been able to continue wage agreements without disputes for 33 years, despite having a one company, three unions structure.
At the delegation ceremony, Moon Dong-jun, President of Kumho Petrochemical, said, "I feel deeply moved and at the same time bear a heavy responsibility as the labor unions entrusted the company with wage adjustment authority in unison to overcome the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 situation. We will do our best to produce results that satisfy both labor and management."
Meanwhile, in March this year, Kumho Petrochemical donated 2 million medical latex gloves to Daegu and the Gyeongbuk region and other places in need of medical supplies through the Korean Red Cross. The donation was made with the cooperation of Kumho Petrochemical’s partner companies in China and Malaysia.
