Jeongeup-si, Naejangsan Resort Tourism Development Project 'Smooth Sailing'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 6th that the ‘Naejangsan Resort Tourist Site Development Project,’ jointly promoted with the Korea Tourism Organization, is progressing smoothly.

According to the city, out of the total area of 1,117,554㎡ (338,000 pyeong) available for sale, 1,028,189㎡ (311,000 pyeong) has already been sold, achieving a 92% sales rate and accelerating the project’s progress.

In this regard, the city completed a land contract with Jeonbuk Bank for the staff training center site in December last year, and in February this year, signed an agreement with Daeil Naejangsan Country Club Co., Ltd. to construct a tourist hotel.

Additionally, Gwangju-based company Retreat Co., Ltd. plans to break ground this month to build accommodation facilities covering approximately 2,000 pyeong.

Retreat Co., Ltd. received building permit approval last month for a structure with one basement floor and seven above-ground floors, and is investing a total of 9 billion KRW aiming for completion in 2021.

The city also obtained final approval from Jeonbuk Province for the tourist site development plan (amendment), including land use change (educational research facilities) and floor limit (within 8 floors), as part of facilitating the smooth construction of the JB Training Center and revitalizing the Naejangsan Resort tourist site, completing preliminary administrative procedures.

Accordingly, JB Financial Group has organized a training center construction promotion team (8 members) composed of executives in charge from each affiliate (JB Financial Group, Jeonbuk Bank, Gwangju Bank, JB Woori Capital) to develop the training building, accommodation building (110 rooms), and sports facilities.

They plan to complete the architectural design company recruitment by the 17th, start construction in November, and are moving swiftly with the goal of completion in 2022.

Mayor Yoo Jin-seop said, “With the start of the construction of the JB Training Center, hotel, and accommodation facilities, a solid foundation has been laid for the successful development of the Naejangsan Resort tourist site. We will transform Naejangsan Resort into a four-season stay-type tourist city and further invigorate the local economy through the revitalization of tourism in Jeongeup City.”
