Jangseong-gun Invests 3.1 Billion Won to Support Forestry Workers

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Gilsu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 6th that it will invest 3.1 billion KRW in seven forest income projects, including the production and distribution of forest products.

Earlier, the county received applications for the forest income support project from January to February and finalized the beneficiaries through the agricultural and forestry project review last month.

In particular, starting this year, the subsidy rate for forest income projects has been raised from 40% to 50%, which has been well received by farmers.

Detailed support includes assistance for packaging production of durup (Aralia sprout) and tteolkeun gam (astringent persimmon), as well as the installation of cold storage and drying facilities.

Additionally, pest control equipment, sorting machines, electric shears, and small lawn mowers are also included in the support targets.

Furthermore, for lawn producers, soil conditioners, organic fertilizers, and other equipment necessary for lawn production and cultivation will be supported, and various equipment necessary for production will also be provided to jujube farmers.

Yoo Doo-seok, the governor of Jangseong-gun, said, “With 62% of Jangseong-gun’s area covered by forest, increasing income from forestry through efficient forest management has a significant impact on the local economy. We will do our best to provide generous support and improve the production and distribution structure of forest products.”

The county plans to continuously expand the scale of income crop cultivation projects such as lawn, tteolkeun gam, gorosoe (maple sap), durup, and jujube, and actively support these efforts to increase forest income in the future.
