Issued to over 13,000 Basic Livelihood Security and Near-Poverty Households... Provided as Consumable Coupons (Prepaid Cards) Usable Until July
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Su-young) will implement a temporary living support project starting from the 6th to stabilize the lives of vulnerable groups experiencing economic difficulties due to COVID-19.
A total of 7.4 billion KRW in consumption coupons (prepaid cards) that can be used for four months from April to July will be provided to about 13,000 households of basic livelihood security recipients and near-poverty groups with incomes below 50% of the median income.
Basic livelihood security recipients and near-poverty group beneficiaries can receive the consumption coupons (prepaid cards) by visiting their local community service center on the date notified via text message without a separate application. For elderly and disabled individuals with mobility difficulties, the coupons will be delivered directly through home visits.
The amount paid per household for basic livelihood security recipients in livelihood and medical categories is ▲520,000 KRW for a single-person household ▲880,000 KRW for a two-person household ▲1,140,000 KRW for a three-person household ▲1,400,000 KRW for a four-person household.
Additionally, the amount paid per household for basic livelihood security recipients in housing and education categories and near-poverty groups is ▲400,000 KRW for a single-person household ▲680,000 KRW for a two-person household ▲880,000 KRW for a three-person household ▲1,080,000 KRW for a four-person household.
Kim Su-young, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, stated, “In times of crisis, the weakest groups tend to collapse first. We will make greater efforts at the district level to overcome the economic crisis faced by vulnerable groups due to COVID-19 together.” He added, “Furthermore, I hope that the temporary living support project will not only help vulnerable residents but also support small business owners who are struggling due to the consumption slump caused by COVID-19.”
