95 Early Voting Stations Confirmed for the April 15 General Election in Gwangju Area

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan City Election Commission announced on the 5th that it has finalized 95 early voting stations (3,500 nationwide) and 369 polling stations (14,330 nationwide) for the 21st National Assembly election.

Along with this, voting guide letters and election brochures of political parties and candidates were sent to each household, and absentee ballots were sent to 2,418 absentee voters (10,529 nationwide).

Election brochures were also sent to about 8,700 soldiers and police officers nationwide (about 255,300 nationwide) who reside in military bases or units and cannot view the brochures sent to households, upon their request to the election commission.

To improve voters' accessibility to polling stations, the Gwangju Election Commission installed 90 out of 95 early voting stations (94.74%) and 368 out of 369 polling stations (99.7%) on the first floor or in locations equipped with elevators.

In cases where polling stations were changed from the 7th nationwide simultaneous local elections, banners will be posted at the entrances of the previous polling stations to actively inform voters of the new polling station locations.

Starting from the 6th, to allow voters to easily check their polling station locations, the Central Election Commission website (http://www.nec.go.kr) and portal sites will provide the ‘Find My Polling Station’ service.

By accessing the ‘Find My Polling Station’ service and entering their name and date of birth, voters can check their polling station and a map.

Meanwhile, the number of registered voters in Gwangju Metropolitan City has been confirmed at 1,208,046 (43,968,199 nationwide). Buk-gu Eul electoral district has the highest number with 208,908 voters, and Seo-gu Eul electoral district has the lowest with 121,208 voters.
