South Links Yeongam Golf Course in Jeonnam (photo) is holding a 'green fee discount' event until the end of December to support professional golfers' training. All members (regular members, associate members, teaching pros) of the Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) and the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) can play 18 holes on weekdays for 50,000 KRW per person, including cart fees (80,000 KRW on weekends). There are plans to provide the course free of charge to companies hosting professional golf tournaments in the future.
This golf course is especially famous for its 'self-round' system. From its opening, it introduced a no-caddy policy and two-seater carts, and it made headlines by allowing 'two-player rounds.' The clubhouse restaurant also made news with its 'robot serving program.' When ordering at the cafeteria S Lounge, operated by CJ Freshway under consignment, a robot delivers the prepared food directly to the customer. In effect, the entire golf course is already operating an 'uncontact' system.
It has a total of 45 holes, including the 27-hole Jim Angh Course and the 18-hole Kyle Phillips Course. Bentgrass is planted not only on the greens but also on the fairways, allowing golfers to enjoy always green fairways. Another attraction is the climate characteristic that prevents the greens from freezing even in winter. By the end of the year, additional facilities such as an 18-hole course allowing golf carts to enter the fairway, the largest natural grass driving range in Korea (200m wide, 400m long), and a health center will be added.
