Shall We Go on an Eco-Friendly Energy Tour in Gangdong-gu?

Operating Renewable Energy Tour and Experience Programs for All Age Groups... Five Courses Including District Office Public Solar Power, Energy Maru, Power Plant, and Sipjaseong Village

Shall We Go on an Eco-Friendly Energy Tour in Gangdong-gu? The floor solar power generation facility, the first of its kind installed nationwide at Energy Maru

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) operates an 'Eco-friendly Energy Tour' where participants explore local energy facilities such as solar power plants and energy self-sufficient villages to learn about renewable energy.

The Eco-friendly Energy Tour was first established in 2015 to build community consensus on sustainable energy policies. Over 1,300 students and residents have participated to experience the importance of eco-friendly energy.

During the tour, participants can visit five energy facilities with a guide. The course includes public solar power installed at the Gangdong-gu Office building, Neunggol Neighborhood Park Energy Maru?a renewable energy experience facility, the Godeok Green Energy Power Plant, Seoul's largest hydrogen fuel cell power facility, Amsa Solar Power Plant, the largest in the metropolitan area producing 6,000 MWh annually, and Sipjaseong Energy Self-sufficient Village, where resident participation has achieved a 46% energy self-sufficiency rate.

Notably, Neunggol Neighborhood Park Energy Maru was relocated to Gangil-dong and newly opened in November last year. It features five experience zones?solar, wind, water, force, and bio?and the nation's first installed floor solar power facility, making it a promising site for environmental education. The floor solar power generates electricity during the day and offers a smart experience with beautiful lighting and music at night, sparking interest.

The tour is scheduled to run 10 times starting May 15, but dates may change or be canceled due to COVID-19. Each session can accommodate 25 participants. Applications and inquiries can be made through the Green Energy Division of Gangdong-gu Office.

Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, “To proactively respond to the climate change crisis, building community consensus and participation in energy policies is paramount. We will support various experiences such as the Eco-friendly Energy Tour to encourage residents to voluntarily practice energy saving.”
