[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] Im Seo-jeong, Vice Minister of Employment and Labor, visited Yongsan Technical High School in Seoul on the morning of the 5th, where the practical skills test for technicians was held, to inspect the COVID-19 prevention measures.
On that day, 388 candidates took the first practical skills test of the year in 13 categories, including Interior Architecture Technician and Welding Technician, at Yongsan Technical High School.
Vice Minister Im visited the Metal Materials Testing Technician exam site to check whether proper disinfection was carried out and whether the distance between examinees was maintained at least 1 meter. He also observed hand sanitization, mask-wearing, and temperature checks for examinees entering the test site.
At the Interior Architecture Technician and Welding Technician exam sites, he checked whether examinees were taking the practical test while wearing masks.
Vice Minister Im said, "Through thorough infectious disease prevention measures, we will ensure that examinees can take the national technical qualification exams with peace of mind, thereby supporting the livelihood activities of the people and ensuring that job seekers' preparations are not disrupted."
Additionally, the government took various measures during the national technical qualification exam process to prevent COVID-19 infection.
Key areas within facilities such as exam sites, restrooms, and door handles were disinfected, and candidates were pre-notified via text message on their mobile phones that those suspected of COVID-19 infection were not allowed to take the exam.
All registered candidates were checked for contact with confirmed COVID-19 cases, and those who had contact were not allowed to take the exam and were fully refunded their exam fees.
At the exam sites, the distance between examinees was maintained at least 1 meter, and candidates were required to sanitize their hands upon entering and wear masks during the exam.
Meanwhile, a total of 25,245 candidates nationwide took the first practical skills test for technicians and the 67th master technician written exam held on the 5th. For the practical skills test, 13,696 candidates took the exam at 216 sites nationwide, and for the master technician written exam, 11,549 candidates took the exam at 44 sites nationwide.
