Seodaemun-gu Provides 1 Million Won per Business to Temporarily Closed Multi-Use Facilities

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) will provide a support fund of 1 million KRW per business to owners of private multi-use facilities such as karaoke rooms, PC rooms, and sports facilities who voluntarily close their businesses for 14 consecutive days within the designated period to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The targets are a total of 379 locations registered, permitted, or reported in Seodaemun-gu, including ▲166 karaoke rooms ▲69 PC rooms ▲134 sports facilities (fitness centers and sports dojangs) ▲5 emotional pubs ▲2 clubs ▲3 colatecs.

Among these, businesses that voluntarily close for 14 consecutive days during the period from April 1 to April 20 can apply for the support fund.

The business owner or their representative must first submit a ‘Voluntary Closure Application’ to the district office from April 3 to April 7, and other supporting documents can be submitted after April 20. Applications can be made not only in person but also via fax or email.

The closure support fund is provided as economic compensation for the voluntary closure of multi-use facilities. The district office plans to exclude businesses from support if business activities are confirmed through multiple on-site inspections.

Moon Seok-jin, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, “We thank the multi-use facility stakeholders who participated in the closure to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and we hope the support fund will help to some extent in compensating for business losses.”

He also stated, “We will continue to do our best to minimize the damage to self-employed people who are struggling due to COVID-19.”
