[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] The prosecution is summoning Jo Joo-bin (24, in custody), the operator of the 'Baksa Room' accused of producing sexually exploitative materials and distributing them on the internet messenger Telegram, for questioning even over the weekend.
The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office Digital Sex Crime Special Investigation Task Force (led by Chief Prosecutor Yoo Hyun-jung) is questioning Jo at Seoul Detention Center around 2 p.m. on the 4th. This is the eighth investigation since his transfer to the prosecution. Jo was also questioned from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. the previous day.
The prosecution is focusing on supplementary investigations into the charges against Jo in the 'Baksa Room' and clarifying the conspiracy relationship with accomplices.
The prosecution is also questioning Cheon Mo (29), a public official affiliated with Geoje City Hall, who was confirmed to have participated in operating the Baksa Room, around 3:20 p.m. on the same day. Cheon was arrested in January on charges including filming sexually exploitative videos targeting multiple women, including minors. He was already indicted on February 4. The prosecution plans to conduct additional investigations to further confirm Cheon's involvement in operating the Baksa Room.
Earlier, the prosecution also summoned Kang Mo (24), a social service agent (public service worker) identified as an accomplice of Jo, to inquire about how he came to know Jo Joo-bin and the charges related to the Baksa Room.

The prosecution plans to complete the investigation and indict Jo before the expiration of his second detention period on the 13th. They will first organize the 12 charges, including production and distribution of obscene materials under the Juvenile Protection Act, transferred by the police, and indict Jo. If additional investigation details from the police come in, they will file further charges.
Since Jo’s investigation records are extensive and the prosecution must indict him within the remaining nine days, they are expected to continue intensive questioning throughout the weekend. If necessary, they will also conduct confrontation investigations with other accomplices. Jo has been summoned and questioned by the prosecution daily except on the day of transfer and weekends.
Meanwhile, Choi Mo (26), another social service agent (public service worker) accused of illegally accessing personal information and leaking it to Jo, was arrested the day before.
Won Jeong-sook, the chief judge in charge of warrants at the Seoul Central District Court, held a detention hearing for Choi, who is charged with violating the Personal Information Protection Act, and issued an arrest warrant.
Choi, who was a social service agent at a resident center in a district of Seoul, is suspected of illegally accessing personal information of about 200 people while assisting with issuing resident registration certificates and extracts, and providing information of 17 individuals to Jo.
