According to the state-run Central (CC) TV, flags were flown at half-mast at Tiananmen Square in Beijing that morning, and in Wuhan, Hubei Province, which was the hardest hit, a half-mast flag ceremony and a moment of silence were held.
Chinese President Xi Jinping and other Chinese leaders also attended the memorial ceremony, observing a three-minute moment of silence starting at 10 a.m. During the three minutes of the memorial, vehicles, trains, and ships sounded their horns to express condolences.
Citizens using public transportation also stood up and observed the moment of silence to participate in the memorial ceremony.
