[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Kim Jong-in, the General Election Committee Chairman of the United Future Party, raised his voice in criticism, saying that the government is shouting for 'saving Cho Kuk' at a time when it should be reviving the economy.

At the election committee meeting held at the Busan City Party Office on the 4th, Chairman Kim said, "After seeing the events that occurred in just a few days, I cannot help but doubt what this government is thinking about the future of the country."

He pointed out, "In the face of this serious election, they are now shouting 'save Cho Kuk.' This government is not only incompetent but also lacks conscience and dignity. Despite the grave task of reviving the collapsing economy, the current government is recklessly making an individual a campaign issue."

Regarding the 'Yoon Seok-yeol close aide allegations,' Chairman Kim criticized, "It is a situation where a person imprisoned for billions of won in fraud is connected to a broadcasting company, causing another problem, and the public broadcaster is reading it out one after another." He added, "The government is obsessed with maintaining power not through their actual policy achievements but by controlling the media and judiciary."

On the government's economic policy, he said, "The so-called income-led growth has ultimately resulted in mass unemployment and business closures. Korea's economy, which used to be the fastest-growing in the world, has now become an economy in rapid decline." He criticized, "These people (the government) do not have the ability to overcome the tremendous economic reality that will unfold from now on."

Meanwhile, at the meeting, Chairman Kim mourned the medical workers who died from the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
