[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Roh Gwan-gyu, an independent candidate for the National Assembly representing Suncheon, Gwangyang, Gokseong, and Gurye Gap in Jeonnam, stated on the 4th, "I congratulate Suncheon City for surpassing Yeosu City to become the most populous city in Jeonnam."
Candidate Roh said, "According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's resident registration population statistics as of last month, Suncheon's population was 281,873, which is 79 more than Yeosu's population."
He added, "Suncheon City surpassing Yeosu City to become the number one city in Jeonnam is proof of Suncheon as an ecological capital represented by the 'Suncheonman National Garden' and a great place to live," expressing gratitude by saying, "This result was made possible by the dedicated efforts of the 280,000 Suncheon citizens, Mayor Heo Seok, and the Suncheon city officials."
He continued, "However, the citizens of Suncheon find themselves in a sorrowful position where they cannot simply rejoice," pointing out, "This is due to the malicious division of electoral districts caused by the ruling and opposition parties."
Finally, he appealed, "I believe that the just and great citizens will judge the political forces that committed the atrocity of splitting Suncheon and trampling on the pride of its citizens in this election," and urged, "Please support Roh Gwan-gyu this one time so that he can reclaim Haeryong-myeon and protect the pride of the citizens."
