Singer Wheesung collapses after receiving sedative injection again in two days, police dispatched

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Singer Wheesung (38, real name Choi Whee-sung) was administered a sleeping anesthetic last month on the 31st, and two days later, he was given the same drug again and collapsed, prompting police to respond.

According to the police on the 3rd, Wheesung was found after administering a sleeping anesthetic-type drug in a restroom of a commercial building in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, the day before.

Drugs and syringes were reportedly found at the scene. The police believe the drug Wheesung administered was a sleeping anesthetic not classified as a narcotic and released him after investigation.

Earlier, on the 31st of last month, Wheesung was also found collapsed after administering a sleeping anesthetic-type drug in a building in Songpa-gu, and the police sent him home. Currently, Wheesung, who is suspected of habitual propofol use, is reportedly under investigation by the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency for narcotics use charges.

His agency, Real Slow Company, released an official statement saying, "Wheesung is going through an unbearable time due to the sudden passing of his father, the consecutive deaths of acquaintances he worked with, and difficult incidents entangled last year."

They continued, "Regardless of the reasons, Wheesung deeply regrets and apologizes for showing an unfavorable image," adding, "We sincerely apologize to everyone who has been concerned."

Meanwhile, the Songpa Police Station urgently arrested a man suspected of supplying drugs to Wheesung on charges of violating the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act.
