[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) announced on the 5th that it will provide training on the use of programs capable of interactive remote classes for middle and high school teachers who are not familiar with digital technology.
KAIST has formed an 'Online Class Support Team' composed of undergraduate and graduate students to support middle and high school teachers from 38 schools located in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, for one month. About 40 members of the support team are assigned one or two per school to assist the teachers. All activity expenses are covered by KAIST.
Teachers will receive guidance on the main functions of programs necessary for interactive classes, preparations for conducting online classes effectively, how to respond to issues that arise, tips for attendance checks, class management, quizzes, and other useful information to refer to during class sessions.
Shin Sung-chul, President of KAIST, said, "This is truly a difficult time when we must quickly learn and adapt to new educational methods," adding, "We will do our best to help middle and high schools in the Yuseong-gu area promptly resolve the inconveniences of online classes and ensure that high-quality education is smoothly provided."
