[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Korea Maritime and Ocean University announced on the 4th that Professor Song Hwacheol of the Department of Marine Spatial Architecture has been inaugurated as the 24th president of the Busan·Ulsan·Gyeongnam branch of the Architectural Institute of Korea. The term of office is two years starting from April 1.
New President Song graduated from Yonsei University with a degree in Architectural Engineering, earned a master's degree from Yonsei University Graduate School, and obtained a doctorate from the University of Stuttgart Graduate School in Germany. He has served as the head of the Yeongnam Sea Grant Project Group at Korea Maritime and Ocean University, Dean of Academic Affairs, and Dean of the College of Marine Science and Technology.
He expressed his determination, saying, "I will promote various projects to make the institute a changing organization that prepares for a new future and works together with its members."
Founded in 1947, the Busan·Ulsan·Gyeongnam branch of the Architectural Institute of Korea currently leads the regional architectural community with about 2,500 members.
