[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] The Daegu City Hall internet homepage, which is accepting applications for emergency livelihood funds for victims of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), experienced access delays due to a surge in users.

According to Daegu City on the 3rd, after the emergency livelihood fund application system began operation after 9 a.m. that day, citizens had difficulty accessing the site due to a flood of users. The access delay continued throughout the morning.

Not only the emergency livelihood fund system but also the Daegu City Hall homepage was inaccessible.

Even some citizens who succeeded in accessing the application system encountered messages such as "The identity verification page is not working," indicating unstable access.

Regarding the homepage access disruption, a Daegu City official explained, "The application system was built to allow 20,000 people to access simultaneously, but due to high public interest in the emergency livelihood fund and the surge of users on the first day, access was delayed."

Meanwhile, Daegu City will accept online applications for emergency livelihood funds from the 3rd until May 2nd. Applications can be submitted through the city's emergency livelihood fund application system, accessible via banners or popup links on the city and eight district/county office homepages.

From the 6th, in-person applications will also be accepted at Daegu Bank, NongHyup, post offices, and administrative welfare centers.
