iPhone SE 2 Launch Imminent... "3 Color Options and 256GB Added"

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The launch of Apple's mid-range phone iPhone 9 (iPhone SE2) is imminent. Although a mid-April release was the dominant speculation, there are also forecasts that it will be unveiled about 10 days earlier. It is expected to be released in three colors: White, Black, and Red.

On the 2nd (local time), IT specialized media 9to5Mac cited an anonymous source and reported that Apple's iPhone 9 will be released under the name 2020 model 'iPhone SE.' It is expected to start taking orders as early as the 3rd (local time) in the first release countries such as the United States.

The 2020 model iPhone SE comes in three colors: White, Black, and Red, and will be released in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage models. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted it would be released in 64GB and 128GB models, but an additional option has been added. The price starts at $399.

It features the same 4.7-inch display as the iPhone SE and inherits the design of the iPhone 8. It has 3GB of RAM, a 12-megapixel camera, and is highly likely to be equipped with the same A13 processor as the iPhone 11. Features not supported on the iPhone 8, such as Car Key and Apple Pay Express Card, will be applied.

iPhone SE 2 Launch Imminent... "3 Color Options and 256GB Added"

Until now, foreign media have predicted that Apple would unveil the iPhone 9 on April 15 and start selling it from the 22nd, but clues suggesting the schedule will be moved up by more than 10 days are emerging one after another. Apple's partners have started producing new iPhone SE cases and screen protectors and supplying them to retailers. Best Buy employees have been instructed to start selling new iPhone SE cases from the 5th.

However, even if Apple releases the new iPhone SE soon, it is expected to take at least a month before it is officially launched in Korea. Korea has always been excluded from the first release countries.

Due to the global spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), Apple's originally expected new product launch event was not held. Instead, Apple is using a strategy of surprise launches for iPads and MacBook Pros. Amid the smartphone market contraction and sluggish performance of high-end flagship smartphones due to the impact of COVID-19, attention is focused on whether Apple will create a stir in the mid-range phone market with the new iPhone SE. Rumors of a successor to the iPhone SE have persisted for years, causing anxiety among Apple fans.
