[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Yoo Si-min, chairman of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation, on the 3rd called for "an investigation to uncover the truth" regarding reports alleging that a sitting chief prosecutor leaked information to a JTBC journalist in an attempt to dig up dirt on him.
Yoo appeared on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' that morning and said, "Without extraordinary measures, the problem will not be resolved amid the collusion between the media power and prosecutorial power spiraling out of control."
He criticized Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl, saying, "He has no respect for the president or the government," and added, "He has shown behavior that does not hesitate to make remarks that almost demean the president since the day he received his appointment."
He continued, "The atmosphere within Yoon Seok-youl's faction is that they consider themselves powerful yet strangely think they are clean," and pointed out, "Political power is inevitably corrupt everywhere, and there are many who exploit the president's surroundings. If you investigate, no one is clean. It seems they think this way."
Regarding his past claim that the prosecution looked into the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation's accounts, Yoo said, "I believe (the account checks) were all done by Yoon Seok-youl's faction," and added, "The reason I became a target was my critical remarks about the prosecution during the Cho Kuk incident; what else could it be?"
On his relationship with Lee Cheol, former CEO of VIK Value Invest Korea, Yoo explained, "When I ran for governor of Gyeonggi Province around 2010, my party was the People's Participation Party, and Lee Cheol was the Uijeongbu regional chairman of the People's Participation Party," adding, "In the summer of 2014, he asked me to give a lecture, and I gave a two-hour lecture."
Regarding the lecture fee, he explained, "What I confirmed was only 700,000 won," and said, "I have never owned a single share of stock in my life. Because of the small shareholder movement, I once owned one share of Hyundai Heavy Industries stock but sold it quickly."
Yoo also mentioned the real names of the journalist and prosecutor involved in the report that day. Regarding the use of real names, he said, "They are public figures, while former CEO Lee is a private citizen," and criticized, "Former CEO Lee's name appears prominently in newspapers and broadcasts, so are those people Voldemort from Harry Potter?"
