Operation Resumes on the 6th
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Two confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported at Samsung Electronics' home appliance factory located in Newberry County, South Carolina, USA, leading to a temporary shutdown of the factory.
According to industry sources on the 3rd (local time), two employees working at Samsung Electronics' Newberry factory tested positive for COVID-19 on the 1st. Samsung Electronics is currently conducting disinfection operations at the factory and plans to resume operations from the 6th.
Samsung Electronics' Newberry factory, which began operations in January 2018, serves as the forefront of its home appliance business in the United States. It manufactures over one million washing machines annually. The factory employs approximately 900 workers.
A Samsung Electronics representative stated, "After disinfection work from the 2nd to the 4th, we plan to resume operations from the 6th," adding, "This does not indicate a long-term factory closure."
