Simultaneous COVID-19 Cases at Samsung and LG Partners: "No Impact on Production Lines"

[Asia Economy Reporters Dongwoo Lee and Gimin Lee] A confirmed case of COVID-19 has been reported at Samsung Electronics' Pyeongtaek plant.

Samsung Electronics announced that at 8 a.m. on the 3rd, it was confirmed that a subcontractor employee at the Pyeongtaek plant tested positive for COVID-19, prompting an emergency disinfection and self-quarantine of employees who had contact with the confirmed case.

A Samsung Electronics official stated, "It has been confirmed that the confirmed case worked in a separate area from the semiconductor production line, so the factory is operating normally."

On the same day, a COVID-19 case was also reported at LG Electronics' facility. A subcontractor employee working at the customer information booth inside the LG Electronics Pyeongtaek Digital Park factory tested positive for COVID-19.

Three people who worked closely with the confirmed case have been classified as close contacts and are currently in self-quarantine. LG Electronics completed disinfection of the information booth and the restaurant visited by the confirmed case, and the restaurant was closed for the day.

An LG Electronics official said, "Since the confirmed case worked at the booth, it has been determined that there is no issue with the production line and office building," adding, "The production line is operating without disruption."
