Guro-gu Prepares COVID-19 'Safe Accommodation'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Sung) is preparing ‘Safe Accommodations’ to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Guro-gu announced on the 3rd that it will operate safe accommodations in cooperation with local hotels to ensure that families of overseas arrivals can stay safely during their self-quarantine period.

From the 1st of this month, a two-week self-quarantine has been made mandatory for all overseas arrivals. Accordingly, Guro-gu has promoted the preparation of safe accommodations to prevent secondary infections that may occur when the arrivals and their families live together in one household.

Overseas arrivals will stay alone at home to carry out self-quarantine, while their families can stay at hotels at a discounted price.

From the hotel’s perspective, operating for the families rather than the arrivals themselves allows them to attract new guests without the burden of confirmed cases.

The available hotels are Sheraton Seoul D Cube City Hotel, Four Points by Sheraton Seoul Guro, Lotte City Hotel Guro, Hotel Bernoui, and Cocomo Hotel, totaling five locations. Discounts ranging from a minimum of 60% to a maximum of 80% based on the publicly announced prices are applied.

By presenting documents such as airline tickets of the arrivals or a resident registration certificate proving family relationships, guests can stay at the discounted rates. Reservations must be made individually with the respective hotels.

On the 3rd, Guro-gu and the hotels will sign a ‘Business Agreement on Providing Safe Accommodations’ at the Renaissance Hall of the district office.

A Guro-gu official stated, “We expect this safe accommodation operation to help block overseas inflow of COVID-19,” and added, “We sincerely thank the hotel officials who willingly participated for the local community.”
