The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) surpassed 100 on the 2nd in the 'Gangnam 3 districts' of Seoul, including Gangnam-gu, Seocho-gu, and Songpa-gu. This is due to an increase in confirmed cases among overseas arrivals registered as residents in the Gangnam 3 districts recently.
As of 9 PM on the 2nd, the cumulative confirmed cases announced by the autonomous districts are 45 in Gangnam-gu, 29 in Seocho-gu, and 29 in Songpa-gu, totaling 103 in the 'Gangnam 3 districts.'
Recent confirmed cases in Gangnam-gu include four patients: patient number 42 confirmed on the 1st, and patients number 43 to 45 confirmed on the 2nd. Patient number 42 from Gangnam-gu, a 28-year-old woman living in Daechi-dong who had been staying in New York, USA, arrived on March 31 via Asiana Airlines flight OZ221. The test result from the specimen collected at Incheon International Airport on the day of arrival was negative, but a retest on the afternoon of the 1st was positive.
Patient number 43, a 25-year-old woman living in Nonhyeon-dong who had been staying in Portugal, tested negative at the quarantine facility upon arrival on March 23. However, after being retested at the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center, she was confirmed positive on the morning of the 2nd.
Patient number 44, a 36-year-old woman living in Nonhyeon-dong, had contact with a confirmed patient acquaintance on March 26. She visited the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center on April 1 for specimen collection and was confirmed positive on the morning of the 2nd.
Patient number 45, a 23-year-old woman working at a planning agency located in Gangnam-gu, had been on a business trip to the USA from March 3 to 15. She was tested at the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center on the 1st and confirmed positive on the morning of the 2nd.
In Seocho-gu, confirmed patients number 28 and 29 were reported on the 2nd, following patients number 26 and 27 confirmed on the 1st.
