[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] It was reported on the 2nd that the condition of a doctor in his 50s who is hospitalized and receiving treatment at Kyungpook National University Hospital in Daegu due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) is critical. Earlier, there was news that the symptoms had worsened and the doctor had died the previous day, but that information was incorrect.

The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters for COVID-19 stated that after reports of the patient's death surfaced, they checked with the attending professor and confirmed that the patient is in critical condition, not deceased. This patient is an internist running a clinic in Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk, and was diagnosed with COVID-19 on the 19th of last month.

It is reported that the infection occurred through contact with a confirmed case during outpatient treatment, and since then, the patient has been hospitalized at Kyungpook National University Hospital, classified as a critical patient, and has been receiving treatment. The patient underwent extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) treatment and reportedly received a stent insertion procedure due to myocardial infarction the previous day.
