Artist NIve, who gained widespread recognition as a producer on songs by famous musicians even before his official debut in Korea, is now officially coming to meet domestic fans.
NIve, who announced his official debut in Korea, began his producing career with the title track "Sahwori Jinamyeon Uri Heeojyeoyo" from EXO's CHEN's solo debut album. He also participated as a producer on EXO's "Groove," Jung Se-woon’s "Biga Omyeon Geunalcheoreom," Paul Kim’s "New Day," and HYNN (Park Hye-won)’s mini-album title tracks "Amureochiji Anke, Annyeong" and "Oneurege (TO.DAY)," among others.
He has also been active as a singer. Debuting in November 2018 with a collaboration single with American singer-songwriter JMSN, he released "Who I Am," "Liberated," and "Tired" consecutively in 2019, sharing his unique musical philosophy and values with the public.
"Who I Am" is a song depicting the journey of discovering oneself and finding the true me. "Liberated" conveys NIve’s hope and comfort, delivering a warm message to everyone enduring tough times through the lyrics "It’s okay not to be okay." Released last fall, "Tired" is a confession song about exhaustion. It carries a self-soothing message that sometimes it’s okay to accept fatigue when facing difficult situations.
For this official Korean debut, Sam Kim from Antenna Music stepped in to support. The two artists had previously built musical chemistry while co-producing Sam Kim’s digital single "Where’s My Money," becoming close friends. It is said that Sam Kim gladly accepted NIve’s request to collaborate.
The domestic debut single "Like a Fool" is a song about someone who once had vague doubts and distrust about love but then experiences exciting love and learns the true meaning of loving like a fool. The unique vocal tones of NIve and Sam Kim combined with poignant singing leave a calm and deep impression. The guitar riff flowing throughout the entire song evokes a warm feeling reminiscent of spring. The sound is trendy, blending Lo-Fi/Pop genres with R&B future bass.
The music video was directed by director Bang Jae-yeop. It has been praised for cleverly portraying people who love purely like fools through sensuous colors and lyrical direction.
"Like a Fool," a collaboration between NIve and Sam Kim, will be released on all music platforms at 6 PM on April 2.
Meanwhile, NIve is an artist under 153 Entertainment. 153 Entertainment is a label established as a joint venture with Warner Music Group, led by multi-platinum producer Shin Hyuk, who serves as CEO and executive producer and is active as a K-Pop/Pop producer.
