[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jo Oseop, the Democratic Party candidate for Gwangju Metropolitan City Buk-gu (Gap) in the April 15 general election, emphasized on the 2nd as he began official election campaigning, “This general election is a time to unite our strength with the Democratic Party to overcome the national disaster of COVID-19, ensure the safety of the people, and complete the reform of power institutions.”

Candidate Jo set the three main election campaign policies for this election held amid the war against COVID-19 as ▲a quiet election ▲an election serving close to the residents ▲an election protecting the people and their livelihoods.

On the day, he started his official election campaign with a morning greeting at the Buk-gu Office intersection and the Democratic Party Gwangju Metropolitan City Party launch ceremony at the National May 18 Democratic Cemetery.

Candidate Jo said, “As the spread of COVID-19 has brought difficulties to the lives of our people, I plan to conduct an election serving close to the residents and protecting their livelihoods,” adding, “We will continue the COVID-19 quarantine achievements of the Moon Jae-in administration, which has become a global model, by overcoming the livelihood economy crisis and stabilizing the lives of ordinary people.”

He continued, “President Moon Jae-in and the Democratic Party have set the safety of the people as the top priority and are waging an all-out war against COVID-19, and have implemented the nationalization of over 52,000 firefighting officials,” emphasizing, “We will thoroughly investigate the suspicions of collusion between the prosecution and the media and complete the reform of power institutions for the people without fail.”

He added, “We must unite our strength with the Democratic Party in this general election so that President Moon Jae-in’s reform tasks are not interrupted,” and stated, “We will stop the fighting National Assembly and create a working National Assembly to support stable state administration in the second half of President Moon Jae-in’s term.”
