According to the United Future Party on the 2nd, Chairman Kim expressed his thanks to Mayor Kwon during the call the previous day, saying, “Mayor Kwon’s crisis management ability played a major role in handling the situation.”
In response, Mayor Kwon tearfully said, “Thanks to the community spirit of Daegu citizens who voluntarily locked down the city, we were able to contain the situation to this extent,” and added, “It was heartbreaking to see patients dying while self-treating due to a shortage of hospital beds.” Chairman Kim is reported to have comforted him with a trembling voice.
Considering the possibility of self-quarantine, Chairman Kim scheduled his visit to Daegu for the final stage of the election campaign and plans to visit the Gyeongbuk region next week.
