Geumcheon-gu Supports Young Small Business Owners in the Food Service Industry

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yuseonghun) is promoting the "Youth Food Service Small Business Support Project" to assist those struggling with business difficulties due to the spread of COVID-19.

The target is food service businesses operated by youth under the age of 39. About 20 companies will be selected and supported, with 50% recommended by related organizations such as traditional market merchant associations and 50% through open recruitment.

The application period is from April 2 to April 8, and eligibility requires having a business location in Geumcheon-gu and being a business capable of delivery service in a take-out format.

Selected businesses will provide meal services to 200 vulnerable households in the area, recommended by each community service center.

To ensure smooth service delivery, the district plans to select four delivery companies familiar with the local geography and conduct deliveries by region. Applications for delivery companies will also be accepted from April 2 to April 8.

The district will select small business owners eligible for support by region through the Youth Small Business Selection Committee, and the results will be individually notified on April 14.

Meanwhile, the district plans to deliver meal coupons by hand to the 200 pre-selected vulnerable households by April 17. Each coupon, including delivery fees, is worth approximately 380,000 KRW. Coupon recipients can order food from youth small business owners and receive meal services via delivery.

Yuseonghun, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, "All residents in the region are facing difficulties due to the COVID-19 virus, but we will support the hardships of youth small business owners who have established their livelihoods in the area so that young people can settle in the community."

For more details, inquiries can be made to the Geumcheon-gu Office Child and Youth Division.
