[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] The Democratic Party of Korea's Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam Megacity Vision Committee held a press conference in front of Yangsan City Council on the 1st and declared the establishment of the super-regional economic zone "Bu-Ul-Gyeong Megacity" that unites the three regions into one.
At the conference, Kim Young-choon and Kim Doo-kwan, who serve as the election campaign committee chairs for Busan, Gyeongnam, and Ulsan regions of the Democratic Party, along with Jeon Jae-soo, Min Hong-chul, and Lee Sang-heon, the heads of the three city and provincial party committees of Bu-Ul-Gyeong, attended.
Also, candidates from Gyeongnam region Kim Jeong-ho and Lee Jae-young, and Busan candidates Choi Ji-eun and Park Moo-sung, among others, appeared to pledge joint prosperity through the megacity.
Co-Chairman Kim Doo-kwan said, "Breaking the unipolar system of the metropolitan area, the only possibility for regional survival and the place with the highest potential in Korea is Bu-Ul-Gyeong," adding, "Today, at this place, we declare the Bu-Ul-Gyeong Megacity vision for the survival of the regional economy of Bu-Ul-Gyeong and the establishment of a new growth engine for the Korean economy."
Following this, Co-Chairman Kim Young-choon announced three promotion strategies: "Creating an innovation ecosystem to revitalize the regional economy, building a sustainable city promised with environment, safety, and health, while expanding logistics infrastructure and strengthening the metropolitan transportation network."
Among the heads of the local city and provincial party committees, Lee Sang-heon, head of the Ulsan City Party Committee, presented plans to strengthen industrial competitiveness through the creation of an innovation ecosystem and the establishment of a science and technology foundation for building a sustainable innovation platform.
Min Hong-chul, head of the Gyeongnam Provincial Party Committee, emphasized nurturing talent for educational innovation and establishing a Northeast Asia logistics platform.
Jeon Jae-soo, head of the Busan City Party Committee, stressed the construction of the Bu-Ul-Gyeong metropolitan transportation system, the development of a tourism map, and the establishment of a metropolitan disaster management system.
