Oh Jung-yeon "Korea Gains Attention Thanks to COVID-19 Response and Civic Awareness"

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Lim Juhyung] Broadcaster Oh Jungyeon sent a message of encouragement to the Korean people coping with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

On the 1st, Oh Jungyeon opened up on her Instagram, saying, "I suddenly had a thought while reading comments on a YouTube video about Korea's COVID-19 situation without panic buying."

She continued, "Until recently, the world viewed Korea as 'the most dangerous country in the world' because of North Korea," adding, "However, after the COVID-19 crisis, due to appropriate measures and high civic awareness, Korea has come to be known as 'the safest country in the world.'"

She added, "An advanced, civilized, desirable, and enviable country is a bonus."

Oh Jungyeon emphasized, "If it weren't for this crisis, 2020 would have been a year when Japan was in the spotlight because of the Tokyo Olympics," and "Instead, Korea is gaining attention for positive issues."

She urged, "At times like this, let us once again remember to be more humble, cautious, and to demonstrate tolerance."
