[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun visited Songpa District Office at 3 p.m. on March 31.
This visit was arranged to inspect the on-site situation of local governments responsible for regional quarantine and the management status of self-quarantine, ahead of the government's implementation of a two-week self-quarantine for all overseas arrivals starting April 1 due to COVID-19.
The on-site inspection began with an explanation of the COVID-19 response status by Park Seong-su, Mayor of Songpa District, followed by Prime Minister Chung's greeting, and then a demonstration of the GIS (Geographic Information System)-integrated situation board by Lee Hee-byeong, Director of the Administrative Safety Bureau of Songpa District.
Songpa District uses GIS to comprehensively manage self-quarantined individuals, including checking whether users of the safety protection app have left their designated areas.
At the event, Prime Minister Chung urged, "Please make thorough preparations in accordance with the strengthened quarantine measures for overseas arrivals."
In response, Park Seong-su, Mayor of Songpa District, stated, "To actively practice social distancing, we canceled the Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival and have taken measures to fully close Seokchon Lake Park until April 12. Additionally, to support the recovery of the local economy, we are providing up to 1 million KRW in support for multi-use facilities that close temporarily and expanding free delivery services for neighborhood stores. We will mobilize all available resources to overcome the COVID-19 crisis until the situation is resolved."
