[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] Channel A has formed an internal fact-finding committee to investigate the situation regarding a reporter affiliated with the network who is suspected of flaunting close ties with the prosecution during the coverage of the ShillaJen case and pressuring sources to reveal corruption involving passport holders.
On the 1st, Channel A announced through the closing remarks of anchor Dong Jeong-min, who hosts the main news program 'News A,' that "an internal fact-finding committee has been formed to investigate allegations that a reporter from our company engaged in conduct violating journalistic ethics during the coverage of the ShillaJen case."
They added, "We will conduct the investigation as swiftly as possible," and stated, "Once the investigation results are available, they will undergo verification by an advisory committee composed of external experts, and responsible measures will be taken."
The previous day, MBC Newsdesk reported that Channel A reporter Lee (last name withheld) approached Lee Cheol, former major shareholder of ShillaJen and former CEO of Value Investment Korea, who is currently detained at Seoul Southern Detention Center, in a coercive manner, urging him to report misconduct by Yoo Si-min, chairman of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation.
