[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Lim Juhyung] It has been confirmed that singer Wheesung (38, real name Choi Wheesung), who is under police investigation for alleged drug use, was found collapsed after apparently taking a sedative anesthetic, prompting police to respond.
On the 1st, the police announced that they received a report around 8:30 p.m. the previous day about a man collapsed in a restroom of a building in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
Police who responded to the report found the man at the scene. Around him were plastic bags, several syringes, and bottles containing liquid.
After confirming that the man was Wheesung, the police brought him to the station for investigation to determine drug use, but a urine test came back negative.
The police believe that Wheesung took a type of sedative anesthetic not classified as a narcotic and plan to conduct a follow-up investigation related to this matter.
Meanwhile, Wheesung is currently under police investigation after being caught on suspicion of purchasing narcotics on the 26th of last month.
