Dongjak-gu, Emergency Transport for Overseas Arrivals 추진

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) announced that it will implement an emergency transportation plan for overseas arrivals starting from the 30th of last month in response to the recent surge in COVID-19 confirmed cases imported from abroad.

From that day forward, all entrants coming into the country from overseas are required to self-quarantine for 14 days.

The district has established an emergency transportation plan that blocks overseas arrivals from using public transportation from the time of entry, minimizing contact with others, in connection with Seoul City's emergency transportation measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

Asymptomatic overseas arrivals are transported six times daily from the airport to the Dongjak-gu Public Health Center by dedicated limousine. At the screening clinic, specimens are collected for testing, and after the test, they wait for a certain period in a separated space.

The district minimizes the movement of overseas arrivals and secures a one-stop route for testing. For residents who have difficulty returning home by their own vehicle after testing, administrative vehicles are deployed to safely transport them from the health center to their homes.

As of March 31, 22 people were tested at the Dongjak-gu Public Health Center screening clinic, and among them, 21 used administrative vehicles to return home.

Since February 27, the district has been implementing a transportation plan for international students in cooperation with local universities. To minimize contact with local residents due to public transportation use, transportation means such as call vans are supported. Up to the 31st, the service has operated 85 times, serving 105 international students.

The district continuously monitors the status of international students by university through a hotline with universities and jointly responds to COVID-19 until the situation ends by strengthening management plans and quarantine support for international students.

Han Dae-hee, Director of the Transportation Administration Division, said, “We will do our best to ensure that overseas arrivals can safely return home after specimen testing,” and added, “We ask residents to voluntarily participate in high-intensity social distancing by refraining from unnecessary outings and adhering to personal hygiene rules.”
