Seongdong-gu to Provide Up to 1 Million KRW Support for Karaoke Rooms and PC Rooms During Temporary Closure

Support Payment for Voluntary Closure of 335 Locations Including Singing Practice Rooms, PC Rooms, and Sports Facilities... 1 Million KRW Provided for Closure of 10 or More Days Between April 1-12

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Wono) will provide up to 1 million KRW in support funds to owners of private multi-use facilities such as karaoke rooms, PC bangs, and sports facilities who voluntarily close their businesses for more than 10 days.

The support targets a total of 335 locations registered, permitted, or reported in Seongdong-gu, including ▲148 karaoke rooms ▲62 PC bangs ▲125 sports facilities. The closure support funds will be given to businesses that voluntarily close during the recommended suspension period from March 22 to April 12.

Businesses that have already been voluntarily closed since March 22 will receive support funds if they have closed for a total of more than 10 days by April 5. Other businesses will receive support funds if they participate in at least 10 consecutive days of closure between April 1 and April 12.

The application period is three days from March 31 to April 2. Business owners or their representatives must submit the closure support fund application form along with copies of the business registration certificate, representative’s ID, and bankbook to Seongdong-gu Office via fax, email, or in person.

The district will conduct unannounced on-site inspections of participating businesses, and any business caught operating will be excluded from the support program.

Jeong Wono, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “We expect business owners’ voluntary participation in this measure to alleviate the financial difficulties of multi-use facilities in the region due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.” He added, “We hope this support fund will help compensate for business losses even a little, and the district will do its best to prevent the spread so that residents can quickly return to safe and happy daily lives.”
