The Together Citizens' Party Launches Full-Scale General Election Campaign in Gwangju, Vowing to Inherit the 'May Spirit'


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Democratic Party-led proportional representation coalition party, the Deobureo Citizen Party, has begun its full-scale general election campaign in Gwangju, the heart of the Democratic Party, starting with a visit to the May 18 Democratic Cemetery.


According to the Democratic Party Gwangju Metropolitan City Party on the 1st, on this day, Woo Hee-jong, Co-Chairman of the Deobureo Citizen Party's Standing Joint Election Committee, Shin Chang-hyun, Chairman of the Metropolitan Area Election Committee, Secretary-General Jung Eun-hye, Lee Su-jin, Kim Hong-gul, and 20 proportional representation candidates visited the May 18 Democratic Cemetery and the May Mothers' House.


At the event, they pledged to inherit the 'May Spirit' and achieve 'victory in the general election.'


On this day, about 30 members of the Democratic Party, including Lee Hyung-seok, Co-Chairman of the Central Party Joint Election Committee, Song Gap-seok, Co-Chairman of the Honam Region Joint Election Committee, along with party leadership and candidates Min Hyung-bae, Lee Yong-bin, Yang Hyang-ja, Yoon Young-duk, and Jo Oh-seop, joined to strengthen the Deobureo Citizen Party's visit to Gwangju.


After the memorial visit, they went to the May Mothers' House and held a meeting with the first director An Seong-rye, current director Lee Myung-ja, Secretary-General Kim Hyun-mi, and other executives.


The meeting included members of the May Mothers' Association, such as Bae Eun-sim, mother of martyr Lee Han-yeol, and Park Haeng-soon, sister of martyr Park Gwan-hyun, reflecting their expectations for the Deobureo Citizen Party and the Democratic Party.


Through this Gwangju schedule, the Deobureo Citizen Party emphasized that it shares its identity with the Democratic Party and urged citizens to unite their strength for stable national governance.


Officials from the Deobureo Citizen Party and the Democratic Party said, "This general election is especially important as it is held on the 40th anniversary of May 18," adding, "Both parties will work together not only to clearly investigate the truth of May 18 and punish those responsible but also to enshrine the May 18 spirit in the preamble of the Constitution."
