Jungnang-gu Provides 9 Million KRW Support per Parking Space for Detached Houses

Green Parking Project to be Implemented by the End of This Year for Detached Houses, Neighborhood Facilities, and Apartments...Homeowners Can Own Private Parking by Removing Their Fence or Gate

Jungnang-gu Provides 9 Million KRW Support per Parking Space for Detached Houses

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is promoting the ‘2020 Green Parking (Green Parking) Project.’

The Green Parking project involves creating parking spaces by removing fences and gates or utilizing unused small plots of land and vacant lots, and establishing green spaces in the remaining areas.

The support targets are ▲detached houses where parking lots can be created by removing fences and gates ▲neighborhood living facilities where parking lots can be created by removing fences and gates and can be shared with residents and occupants at night ▲apartments where at least two-thirds of all residents agree within half the range of apartment auxiliary facilities and welfare facilities ▲small plots of land and vacant lots.

Detached houses and neighborhood living facilities receive support of up to 28 million KRW, with 9 million KRW per parking space and an additional 1.5 million KRW for each additional space.

For apartments, up to 50% of the parking lot construction cost is supported, with a maximum of 50 million KRW per apartment and up to 700,000 KRW per parking space.

Additionally, when small plots of land or vacant lots are converted into parking lots, support of up to 2.4 million KRW per parking space is provided. However, households that receive support from the Green Parking project must maintain the parking lot function for five years after the project implementation, and failure to comply will result in the recovery of the support funds.

Project support applications can be made by phone to the Parking Management Division of Jungnang-gu Office, and within a week of application, the construction team visits the site to determine feasibility.

In addition, to prepare for increased vulnerability to crime due to the removal of fences and gates, installation of an unmanned self-security system (CCTV) is also possible. It is designed to sound an immediate alarm in case of criminal activity or unauthorized intrusion, providing peace of mind.

Through this Green Parking project, parking difficulties in residential areas are expected to be alleviated, and vacant lots previously neglected with trash and overgrowth will be converted into parking lots, improving the residential environment.

Furthermore, illegal parking in alleys and residential areas will decrease, creating more pleasant alleys.

Since 2004, Jungnang-gu has steadily implemented the Green Parking project, creating a total of 56,681 parking spaces by last year, contributing to the alleviation of parking difficulties. This year, a total of 668 locations with 1,225 parking spaces will be newly installed, and 30% of the installed spaces will be available for sharing.

Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “I hope the Green Parking project will alleviate parking difficulties in Jungnang-gu and create a pleasant residential environment.”
