Wando-gun to Complete Establishment of '2030 Comprehensive Development Plan'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) announced on the 1st that it will establish the ‘2030 Wando County Comprehensive Development Plan.’

The comprehensive development plan aims for 2030 and is being promoted to develop policies that bring about life changes that residents can feel, as well as to present Wando County’s mid- to long-term future vision, including building the best marine healing tourism hub city in South Korea.

Since establishing the ‘Wando Vision 2020 Plan’ in 2009, the county plans to complete the ‘2030 Wando County Comprehensive Development Plan’ by the end of this year to actively respond to government policies and changes in the times and to suggest new development directions.

In particular, following the 2021 Wando International Seaweed Expo, the county is designing the development plan focusing on improving residents’ quality of life, strengthening urban competitiveness, and revitalizing the local economy through investigating and analyzing Wando’s development potential based on the vision of the 7th elected county administration and presenting Wando’s future image.

Specifically, the comprehensive development plan will be established with goals such as ▲setting specific development indicators by sector and presenting directions for county administration development ▲ensuring stable income for local residents ▲implementing advanced social welfare ▲analyzing and responding to population structure changes due to low birthrate and aging, the 4th Industrial Revolution, and changes in tourism trends.

Since this plan is promoted to realize a hopeful future of 100 years of prosperity for all residents, public hearings, briefing sessions, and surveys will be actively conducted to reflect residents’ opinions, and a future-oriented roadmap will be completed by linking with higher-level plans such as the National Comprehensive Development Plan and Jeollanam-do’s plans.

Additionally, a cooperative system will be established with local institutions, social organizations, and experts, and through research on advanced domestic and international cases similar to Wando County, a specialized and differentiated development plan unique to Wando County will be formulated.

Governor Shin Woo-cheol of Wando County said, “We will establish practical plans so that the 2030 Wando County Comprehensive Development Plan can serve as a milestone for Wando’s next 100 years, and we will draw the blueprint for Wando’s development together with the residents.”
