[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] One ensemble actor participating in the world tour of the musical 'The Phantom of the Opera' tested positive for COVID-19, leading to the suspension of the performance.


On the 1st, the organizer of 'The Phantom of the Opera' announced, "At around 11 p.m. on March 31, one actor tested positive for COVID-19, so the performance will be temporarily suspended starting today (the 1st)."


The organizer stated, "The confirmed case showed normal body temperature and no similar symptoms, visited a hospital and a screening clinic on the morning of the 31st, and was diagnosed positive during self-quarantine. Currently, the public health center is conducting an epidemiological investigation, and detailed information will be announced by the relevant authorities as soon as it is confirmed."


They added, "All production actors and staff who had direct contact with the confirmed case, as well as all related personnel, were immediately notified, and testing and self-quarantine have begun. The entire venue is currently closed and emergency disinfection measures are underway."


Furthermore, they said, "During the performance period, the venue has maintained thorough disinfection, mandatory mask-wearing for actors, staff, and audience members, temperature monitoring, restrictions on face-to-face meetings and close contact between actors and audience, and a distance of more than 2 meters between the stage and the first row of seats."


The organizer announced, "Due to testing of related contacts and a two-week self-quarantine period, performances will be suspended for two weeks from April 1 to April 14. Audience members who booked tickets for this period will receive a bulk text message today and will be guided through the ticket cancellation process sequentially."


Finally, the organizer expressed, "We sincerely apologize for causing concern to our audience. We will comply with government and related agencies' quarantine guidelines and procedures, and will conduct related announcements and guidance promptly and transparently. We will also provide further information regarding the resumption of performances in due course."
