[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] On the 1st, a series of incidents occurred during the visit to the National Cemetery by Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the United Future Party, and Kim Jong-in, the general election campaign committee chairman.
In the morning, the visit to the National Seoul Cemetery in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, was attended not only by Leader Hwang and Chairman Kim but also by co-campaign committee chairmen Park Hyung-joon, Shin Se-don, Shim Jae-cheol, and general election candidates Ji Sang-wook, Na Kyung-won, Kim Woong, Bae Hyun-jin, Kim Sam-hwa, Jin Soo-hee, and Lee Dong-seop.
They paid respects at the Memorial Tower and held a moment of silence for the patriotic martyrs and national heroes. During this process, Leader Hwang reportedly placed his right hand over his left chest facing the national flag in front of the Memorial Tower, then lowered his hand and bowed toward the flag. At that time, Yang Seop, director of the National Seoul Cemetery standing to Hwang’s left, nodded slightly as if in silent respect.
The salute to the flag should be done with the hand over the chest, but Director Yang made a mistake, and it is observed that Leader Hwang changed his posture because of this.

After the visit, they wrote in the guestbook. Leader Hwang wrote, "We must change to live. I will firmly protect the great Republic of Korea. 2020.4.1 Hwang Kyo-ahn, Leader of the United Future Party."
Chairman Kim also wrote in the guestbook, "With a single-minded devotion to save the country, I will restore the free democratic nation. 2020.4.1." Later, when writing his position and name, he initially wrote the character 'Min' but erased it and wrote "Kim Jong-in, Chairman of the United Future Party Election Committee."
This mistake is interpreted as possibly due to his past experience as the emergency committee chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea.
